BIG BIG PLANS
If I hadn't said this enough, I absolutely love to travel! Some of my best memories growing up were travelling to Mobile from Birmingham to see my aunt, Mary Beth, and her family with my grandmother or my family going to Gatlinburg in the snow. We took trips to the beach each summer. Also, back in the day, there were two cool trips to Illinois with my family. Those are just amazing, amazing memories! I was fortunate enough to go on my first international trip to London as part of my graduation in 1997. Of course, London is a place where I had always wanted to go and a place where I will return. That overseas trip with my aunt, KK, only enhanced my love of travel. Since, I have been to Ireland (with KK), Italy (which y'all saw), Germany, Austria, Hungary (I can't believe I failed to blog about that trip), and the Europe 2018 trip (which is here on the blog).
With that love of travel in mind, I'm excited that I will be travelling with Gary during the week of Easter this year. We are going on a road trip to Charleston, where neither of us have been, Asheville, and back to Chattanooga. Yes, Chattanooga for us is a very easy romantic getaway spot (where we feel very comfortable) and we really have been able to find some cool spots that I will share in a later blog. Please cross your fingers for good weather.
That's in April. After that, my dad and I are working on plans for another (becoming annual) international trip. I think the itinerary will revolve around Spain, but we are still going over the details. Right now, any trip with my dad will be during the last week of September, which is a great month to travel. The weather is usually good and crowds are manageable. (Hey, I took two semesters of Spanish in college. Yo hablo espaƱol un poco. Yo se "Lo siento". I'm good.)
So, I have some great things coming up this year. The first trip with Gary is just mere weeks away. This will also be the first experience Gary and I have using VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner) for our places to stay in Charleston and Asheville. I can't wait to be able to share these adventures.
By the way, the cold and wet winter weather here in Birmingham that we've had for way too long is allowed to stop anytime. Spring needs to come in like a lion.
